To back track a bit, after Paul was done with Costco, he got dinner for Aizy and him and came to the hospital. My mom took her home after 8:30 and Paul stayed the night. Aizy had a late night and an early morning; good thing she had napped Thursday!
I signed the paperwork for the procedure and then waited until they'd be able to squeeze me in. I'm not entirely sure what time it was, but I think it was about 9:30 when I went down to pre-op. The anesthesiologist talked to me about a spinal block vs being put all the way out. They recommend the spinal when pregnant so I went with it. He said there are often side effects of shaking, headaches, nausea, etc. but you've gotta do whatcha gotta do. They took me to the OR about 10 I think? Paul went to the waiting room an MaryAnn met him there. {mom and Aizy were still at home.} in the OR they moved me to the table, numbed my back, and gave me the spinal. I felt good for about 15 seconds. Then things went down hill. I was on my back, which isn't always a good idea when you're pregnant anyways. And I felt like my head was lower than the rest of my body. I couldn't breathe and I just felt horrible. I couldn't tell them what I was feeling because there were not words for it. I said I need to sit up so they pulled me up (can't move from waist down) and held me for a minute. They said my heart rate was in the 140s and my blood pressure dropped, I think into the 80s. I started dry heaving. I kept thinking "Take it out. Take it out," about the spinal, because if that's what it does, I didn't want it. But they got some other drugs in me and I was ok. So they positioned me with some pillows under my right side and I was ok after that. I didn't feel my kidney and I didn't feel like dying. Finally felt good. The urologist said he didn't see the stone but he would bet money there was one, not just the baby squishing my ureter. He said all kinds of backed up stuff drained out when he got the stent in. Eww.
I left the OR at 10:50 with minor shaking from the spinal block. I was in recovery for an hour to make sure my blood pressure would stabilize and that my body temp would regulate itself. I felt great. Super weird with the whole numb thing, but great.
When I got back to my room, Paul, Aizy, Maryann, and Mom were there. Paul took Aizy home and showered and brought me clothes. I ate some food, and when I could walk, I took an excellent shower; I did not smell plesant!!
Aizy got to ride from the car to the door with Mom and got a sucker. She wil probably want this be a habit now haha.
So I'm all good now. I feel the stent in my bladder and sometimes it hurts when the baby pushes hard against my bladder. I have read some awful posts about stents when pregnant and how they get super painful as the baby gets bigger. {Dr Allen mentioned I would be uncomfortable. He did not give me details!}
I have a follow up Thursday with Dr Allen and I will ask what the procedure it to get this out. Is it the same day I deliver? Or a later date?
After I got home, Paul took Aizy to the ward campout. She had another late night and an early morning and fell asleep on the way home!
